Holly Bates and Tay Haggarty form the collaborative duo, Parallel Park. Together they will discuss their practice and the ways intimacy, tension, care and the everyday play out in their work. With a strong focus on queer sexuality, Bates and Haggarty will also reflect on their use of performance, repetition, moving image and sound to explore this experience.
Parallel Park (Holly Bates b. 1994, London, England; Tay Haggarty b. 1994, Sunshine Coast, Australia) is the collaborative art practice between artists Holly Bates and Tay Haggarty. The duo has worked collaboratively for five years, exploring the external influences that impact queer sexuality and the intricacies of the artists’ relationship. Working with found objects, performance, video and installation, the collaboration heavily engages with play and spontaneity allowing for both practices to weave into the making process.
