Light in the Darkness: Guided Tour

Learn more about key artworks presented in the 24th Biennale of Sydney ‘Ten Thousand Suns’ at UNSW Galleries in this guided tour and mindfulness meditation.

The image of ‘Ten Thousand Suns’ evokes a scorching world – a hellish landscape that is particularly poignant at UNSW Galleries which has been reimagined as an underworld – yet hope emerges. Revisiting legacies of collective resistance, strength, and exuberance, this edition also embraces a more hopeful and joyful outlook, celebrating the exhibition as a carnival of rays and radiance.

This program will spotlight the work of several outstanding artists including Agnieszka Polska, Jülia Côta and Prazeres Côta, Kubra Khademi, and Leila el Rayes in a guided tour throughout the gallery’s ‘metaphorical mine’. Audiences will then be invited to participate in a mindfulness meditation session to more deeply engage with Polska’s immersive video installation ‘The Demon’s Brain’. To conclude the program, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their experience and participate in a shared dialogue exploring the exhibition’s themes.
