Opening: Jordan Gogos, Tina Stefanou & Kalisolaite ‘Uhila

Join us at UNSW Galleries to celebrate the opening of three major new exhibitions by leading contemporary artists Jordan Gogos, Tina Stefanou, and Kalisolaite ’Uhila.

Together, these exhibitions present compelling, artist-led projects that span fashion, performance, video, sound, and installation. Each offers distinct ways of understanding memory, identity, collective experience, and care, inviting audiences to move through layered environments of intimacy, reflection, and shared presence.

Jordan Gogos: Paradeisos
Jordan Gogos is recognised for merging textiles, fashion, photography, and sculpture into immersive environments. His first institutional exhibition creates a layered vision of paradise, interwoven with themes of diaspora, familial memory, and exuberant queer collectivity. Curated by José Da Silva and Emily Roebuck

Tina Stefanou: Dance the War of Proximity
Tina Stefanou brings together multi-channel video, and sculptural sound works that activate collective voice and movement. The works examine power, coming-of-age, and interspecies relations across spaces of care and control.

Kalisolaite ‘Uhila: Koe Tenga tete to tete Utu pe koia
Kalisolaite ’Uhila works in performance, installation, video, and sound. Returning to Mildura after nearly thirty years, ’Uhila examines memory, labour, masculinity, and kinship, exploring how acts of care and endurance shape personal and communal histories. Curated by Anja Lückenkemper.

For the duration of the opening, Kalisolaite ’Uhila invites visitors to take a quiet moment within the gallery to sit, slow down, peel, and eat an orange. This simple, shared gesture draws on the artist’s teenage memories of time spent in Mildura, an area shaped by orange orchards and vineyards.
