Australian Perspecta 1999: Living Here Now – Art and Politics

Australian Perspecta 1999 is a city-wide Australian contemporary arts event with the theme Living Here Now - Art and Politics. In repsonse to the ressesments of national life that are occuring in the approach of the new millennium, Australian Perspecta considers oir contemporary experience of politics and political agency. In celebration Living here Now is an umbrella uinder which conferences, perfornances, radio broadcasts and interenet actions are presented alongside visual arts exhibitions.

A dimly lit exhibition gallery featuring a large blue-hued video projection on a white wall. The projected image shows railroad tracks receding into the distance, creating a sense of depth and motion. The projection casts reflections across the dark polished floor, while the surrounding space remains mostly shadowed, emphasizing the immersive atmosphere of the installation.

An indoor art installation displayed in a gallery with polished wooden floors and white walls. A semi-transparent, curved canopy made of overlapping clear panels is elevated on a simple wooden framework. Beneath the canopy sits a softly illuminated blue-and-white sculptural element resembling a cloud or dome. The structure is lit from within, creating subtle reflections and an atmospheric, architectural appearance.
