Body Image

'Body Image' reveals new, compelling, arts-led modes of visualising complex scientific and biomedical data. Bringing together art and medical science, the exhibition takes viewers on enthralling visual journeys inside the human body, discovering aspects of blood flow, organ and cellular behaviour.

The animation and photographs featured use the 3D computer generated imagery techniques employed in the visual effects and animation industries. Integrating art, science, medicine and music, the works in 'Body Image' are designed to increase awareness of medical knowledge and to improve working relationships between healthcare professionals, their patients and the wider public.

Curated by Felicity Fenner & Dr John McGhee

'Body Image' is the first of three exhibitions in UNSW Galleries’ 'Signs of Life' exhibition season. 'Amnesia Lab' and 'Quo Vadis: the last drawing show' both open to the public on 20 September.

Please note works in the exhibition are complemented with a selection of scientific specimens of human tissue on loan from UNSW Medicine’s Museum of Human Disease.

Human tissue specimens are shown in the following exhibition images, viewer discretion is advised.
